Upper Deck, Parkies and Reds, Oh My!

In effort to complete two sets (2016-17 Parkhurst and Upper Deck Series 1), I posted a thread on Sports Card Forum in attempt to make some trades.

Once we had exchanged info on what we each had and needed, it turned out that Billy needed a few more than I did and he mentioned that he had some Young Guns if we needed it to even out.  I asked if he had any of the 2016-17 Parkhurst Red parallels since I'm acquiring cards for a set.  So I took those on, along with a Tyler Motte Young Guns and we both came out a lot closer to our sets!

Now that either SCF has added the "Set Building" areas in each sport, I feel that it's much easier to work on trades for sets.  Or, if I have a lot of cards from a set that I don't want to complete, I can look to find someone that needs them on there.  Well done, SCF!

Breaking in an SCF Newbie

No matter what site you're on, you were once a new member.  A new member to Sports Card Forum reached out to me that he had some cards from my 2016-17 Parkhurst set needs.  Sweet!

The interwebz has helped shrink the world in many ways, while at the same time making us realize how big it truly is.  It's a small world in that this new traders lives around Waco, just a couple of hours south of me.  However, there's no way that this trade would have happened without the interwebz and SCF, despite his living so close to me.

Set Needs from Sports Card Forum.

It's not the most exciting of mail days for a blog post, but there was an oddly shaped envelope when I got home today.  I'm always curious when something comes to the house, as I usually have it sent to the office.

One of the users on Sports Card Forum saw my post about completing my set and offered to send me the cards.  I offered to send him money for shipping at least, but he still declined that.  All I can say to Joe (manthis on SCF) is a sincere "thank you."  This pay it forward, along with set need help from fellow bloggers like Shane of the Off The Wall blog, and Cliff & Robert on Twitter, remind me that not everyone in the hobby is greedy.  It does seem like it sometimes, though.

I have another transaction set up on SCF and once those cards get here, it will be down to just 20 more cards until a complete set.  This, combined with my 2016-17 Upper Deck Series 1 set creeping closer to completion, means it is about time to find and purchase a couple of hockey albums and some sheets!
