Most of my recent trades through TCDB have involved buybacks.  My trading partner on this one only had one, but had some of those much maligned insert sets with the 1987 Topps design.

All of these are set needs.  On a somewhat loosely related note, my fiance and I have been watching "Cheers" on Netflix.  A few days ago there was an episode that Boggs guest starred on.  He walked into the bar, said who he was and none of them believed him.  Seriously?  I have never been to Boston and I would know him if I saw him.  They also pantsed him.  Good times!

This was also my second trade with him and it likely won't be my last.  There was a small issue, as one of the cards in the trade was shipped to someone else, but he certainly made up for it by replacing it with the Hank Aaron I needed for my set!

Trade #15 - 860502

This trade had a slight hiccup, but my trading partner went above and beyond to make it right.  When he went to pull the cards, he couldn't find the Dozier card.  If he'd just let me know, I wouldn't have even given it a second thought.  I've not been able to find cards myself.  However, he purchased it off another site and had it shipped to me.  The people that make things right and go above and beyond are those that make the hobby great.

2018 Topps - 1983 Topps Baseball #83-33 Michael Fulmer

All four trading partners were great and I have no concerns trading with them again.  In fact, I've completed 33 trades on the site since October and there's just been one person I'm not keen on trading with again. 

The best part about these four trades?  They were all PWE trades.  I paid less than $2 to ship my cards to the others and all were received without incident.  I wish I'd gotten active on the site years ago.  Regerts.

2018 Trading Card Database Trade #7 - ntlwhlr

This trade was in the second of three envelopes I received on Tuesday.  My trade partner is a Brewers and Blackhawks fan, making him a great trade partner.  He received quite a few Brewers refractors, rookies and numbered cards.  I feel he's probably thrilled with the trade.  I'm not unhappy.

Two more cards toward my 1987 insert set from 2017 Topps.  I think I traded for the Marte in another trade as well.  Oops.  I can put it back into the traders.

One more card two the 2012 Topps mini insert set.

More cards toward my 2017 Gypsy Queen set.  I bought a couple of hanger packs last year and liked the look of them, so decided to work toward the set.  I'm convinced I will never complete it.  

After five blasters of 2017-18 Parkhurst, I was able to complete the base set (but I need another Alex DeBrincat). I decided to attempt the master set, other than the Canadian exclusives and Prominent Prospects numbered parallels.  These come one or two per box so I still need quite a few.  Hopefully I can find more trade partners and pick these up.

Like the Parkhurst set, I have completed the base set of Series 1 but still need plenty of Young Guns and inserts.  They say that patience is a virtue.  I'm not confident that I'm THAT virtuous.

If this card looks familiar, you probably saw another copy in yesterday's trade post.  Oops.

I don't know much about this set and need to learn more.  I have it on my want list because of the former Indianapolis 500 drivers in the set.  Three of the four cards above are Jimmy Murphy, winner of the 1922 race.

Most of my trades on TCDB so far have been one sport for another.  It was refreshing to find a trade partner that crosses multiple sports.  The ones I've found that can cross sports have been much easier so far.  If you can't tell, I'm a big fan of TCDB and their trade system.  The match function makes it easier to find trade partners and I approve of that!

PWE from The Angels, In Order

A few months ago, the fiance had me sign up for something with USPS that sends me a daily email with scans of (some) of the incoming mail.  It's usually only envelopes, so most card deliveries are surprises when I get home.  While that surprise is good, I learned that knowing something is coming is equally as exciting when you don't know the contents. 

This week I saw a PWE scan of an envelope that was traveling a short distance.  Tom of The Angels, In Order, only lives ten or so miles from me.  There was a lot of goodness in that envelope!

Most of the cards were of a man that I'm hoping will be announced as a new Hall of Famer just hours after I post this...

WOW!  Some of my favorite sets!  Well, kind of.  1987 was the first year I collected sports cards and I put together multiple Topps and Donruss sets.  Those two will always be among my favorite sets ever.  I don't care about overproduction and all that.  It's nostalgia and memories of an innocent time in life.  What's better is that I've never owned an O-Pee-Chee or Leaf copy that I recall.  WAHOO!

The 1988 Score set is another favorite of mine that was represented in the envelope.  My LCS has boxes of these, but I haven't pulled the trigger yet.  I never built the set as a kid, but I plan to remedy that.  I'm always fond of Kay-Bee cards.  I loved the box sets.  Many have mentioned the small of opening Topps wax packs because of the gum.  Kay-Bee cards also had their own discernible smell.  As a kid of the late 1980s and early 1990s, I can't help but love the Classic "Saved By The Bell" design.

Despite the horrible design and so many off centered cards, 1986 Topps will always hold a special place in my heart.  It was the first set I ever owned.  A hand-collated set of these was given to me by my uncle for Christmas in 1986.  Sadly the set was lost in a house fire.  I've hand-collated another set and even went the extra mile to find and purchase the same album that my original set was in. 

Dale Murphy never played for the Phillies.  You will never convince me of that.

I mentioned my fondness for 1987 Topps above.  Because of it, I'm also working to complete sets from recent years with the design.  I needed two of the three of these for my set.  Love the throwback Phillies uniform.
