DBBD: 2000 Upper Deck Legends #28 Sandy Koufax

I truly enjoy posting the dime box acquisitions.  It's just an added bonus when you learn something from that card.  I've long known that Sandy Koufax is considered to be one the best ever.

I didn't know that he was dominant for such a short amount of time, just his final five seasons.  His first eight seasons, he was average.  Check the stats on the back.  I guess there's something that I'm missing here.

It makes me think about the argument that some borderline Hall of Famers weren't dominant long enough.  Hmmmmm...

  1. Koufax didn't have the longevity usually associated with a HOFer, but man was he dominant in the 60's. I do wonder if someone like Johan Santana has a better HOF case when compared to Koufax.

    Great dime box find, btw.

  2. It still boggles my mind when I see innings pitched and strikeout totals from guys like Koufax. Sometimes a guys peak just transcends normal hall of fame protocol.
